Strange Marking on a 17A

Post by 45guy »

I ended up trading into a 17A made October of 1925, and it has a strange anchor stamped below the REP proof. Any idea what it is? Additional proof? Inspectors mark?

You are correct . The anchor is an inspectiors mark for the final proof. It can be found on many other Remington models other than the 17. Nice handling pump shotgun and another product of John Moses Browning`s genius.
