Very early 30-30 Rem-Did I pay too much?

Post by ROBOPUMP »

Check this one out. I have not received it yet, but seems to be in exceptional condition for a rifle that is 111 years old. First type magazine, first type safety lever, correct original butt plate, serial number 2745, one of the first year rifles for 30 Rem-early 1907. I may post pictures once I get it. Go to: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/766370869. Did I pay too much? I don't think so. Find a better one at a cheaper price. Be safe and enjoy life. ROB

Really like that one. Very nice...

Hey Rob, It looks like you may have a good one. I can't tell from the picture s but it appears to have the caliber engraved on the barrel jacket extension. Those are very hard to come by. Did you pay too much? I think you did fine. Hopefully it hasn't been reblued or messed with.Congrats on a great find.
Thanks for your time,
Roger

I finally received it today. It is serial number 2745 in extremely good condition and very tight. I had trouble just doing a take down and operating the safety. It is very tight. Bore is perfect. Almost no wear on the magazine follower which would indicate loaded very few times. Butt plate seems to be original green Bakealite or similar material. First type tear drop safety lever, first type magazine with no side springs, 30-30 Rem engraved on barrel jacket head, original butt stock with cheeks, no sign of rebluing, no sign of sanded furniture, all serial numbers match. I am very pleased.

Hey Rob,
I'm sure glad you got this beautiful rifle. Those 30/30 caliber engraved pieces are quite scarce. I can't remember ever seeing one in person! I own one of the 35 caliber engraved pieces, and would like to get an engraved caliber 30 some day.Congrats again.
Thanks for your time,
Roger

she's a beaut. Early rifles in condition like this are quickly becoming among the most rare of all Model 8's.
