There have been numerous attempts at modifying the Model 8's safety lever to be either left handed or more conveniently located. Some ideas were ingenious and some will make you cringe. Here's a few we've observed over the years along with some interesting history. Enjoy!
Factory Modifcation
At least one early Remington catalog listed the possibility of reversing the safety for a left handed shooter. At $11 this was NOT a cheap modification!

Thanks for the postings. Some real creativity on these rifles. I think I sent you pictures of my 81-D that had a safety modification. Please feel free to post it. It looks like the safety on the Browning A-5 shotgun.
