Headspace possible solutions

Just visited a Hornady pair of seminars. We may have an affordable, potential solution for verifying headspace and set back shoulders from sizing. I suggest our reloaders check into the relatively new Hornady headspace gauge for use with a dial caliper. I include a link to their explanation of using the gage. It does not measure the SAMMI datum dimension actually; but can compare case shoulder locations. If one has a factory new case/cartridge we can compare the actual change of a fired round. And use that to set dies correctly.

Heads up, this system measures cases, not the chamber. So a newly acquired rifle would have to be fired to get data. It's great for maintaining die settings, checking if differing rifle chambers are similar. This is a huge simple help for comparing the shoulder location of bottleneck cases.
