How to de-cock a Winchester 1907?
How to de-cock a Winchester 1907?
Is there a way to de-cock a Winchester 1907 without dry firing it? Thanks
Re: How to de-cock a Winchester 1907?
No.
Use an empty case as a snap cap or machine a proper rim on a 357 snap cap.

I just want to de-cock it for storage. I guss dry firing it once shouldn't hurt it. I just remember reading never dry fire a rem. Model 8. Didn't know about the win. 1907.

I'm no expert on the 1907, but I know if you pull the bolt on a M8/81 half way back the hammer will drop with out peening the firing pin. There is no full battery lock out on these rifles. It does relieve hammer spring tension .
Could be worth a try.

Phyrbird,
I own a 07 and a 10. What works with the Remington will not work with the Winchester. That's why I use snap caps.

Good to know, I've some pistols that have no way to release the striker without a snap cap.
Thanks

I don't plan on shooting it again so should I store it with the hammer back or dry fire it only once? I wouldn't want to leave a snap cap in it permanently.
