Just obtained a Model 8.

Hello. I'm new to this site as my uncle left me his Model 8 and a couple of 22's after he passed.

Upon researching, I've discovered the ammo for the Model 8 is hard to come by. So the options are to find some old stock or reload? How much costs are involved in reloading considering I'm starting from scratch? The brass, the press, everything. I'm a complete neophyte so please educate me.

I would be shooting just for fun and infrequently so what would be the most economical course of action?

Thank you,

Tinker

Your best bet is to buy NEW manufactured ammo from Graf and Sons or Buffalo Arms.

What is the caliber of the Model 8? 35 Remington should be out there somewhere.

Here's a few sources for loaded ammo (other than factory 35Rem and 300Sav where available)

Really, what caliber is your Remington chambered for? That makes a big difference as far as availability.

Nice gun to have - good luck!

Sorry for the delay.

I assume it is a .30 as that's what the barrel is marked. Does that sound correct?

If it's marked "30 REM" that is of course the 30 Remington (not 30 Remington AR)

Grafs is showing new .30 Remington brass in stock now. If you reload, RCBS has the dies. It might take a few extra weeks if they have to make them up.
