I was at cabelas in Hazelwood, Mo. tonight and was looking in the used gun racks and found an older looking 870 12 ga., While looking it over I noticed it was a 4 digit sn and its barrel had the same sn. Looked at the date code, it was X UU. That's December 1949! Remington formally introduced the 870 in January 1950! I should buy it, but..........

Re: Very early 870 at Cabelas
Thanks for the kind words on my shooting. I've had "Jack-itis" long before the event, just didn't know what to call it! I just referred to myself as a rifle Looney! Heck, I bought my first 81 almost twenty years ago. It probably started on my 13th birthday when my grandpa gave me his Remington Model 11. I like many types of guns, but the older Remingtons just do it for me!
