Gentlemen,
For a review of the horrors of war and the sacrifices made for all to continue the benefits, including our 2nd Amendment Rights, of living in the greatest country the world has ever known, please go to http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/20 ... -iwo-jima/

Well it pretty much shows that war is Hell, all of them.
Also shows how proud we can be of our country, we need more of that now days.
I`d love to have a statue of the flag raising, salute too all those that served.
Thanks fer sharing.

Indeed, great post Jerry.

Even the huge cold DC memorial moved a teenager in '67 and then again a geezer in '09. The more I read about what my Dad (Army) and the thousands of other did over there for this country, the more it hurts - what our people/leaders are taking for granted.
Though defensive violence will always be “a sad necessity” in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men. - St. Augustine

Imfuncity, I recall your Father and his Brother entered US Army in 1940, went through Pacific campaigns including driving japs out of Phillipines, your Father survived and came home but his Brother was killed there. Must have been very hard for your Dad.
