Purchased yesterday > Bullet Hole Art

Post by rem81auto »

I bought this yesterday at a flea mkt. I knew they exisited by I have never found one before. The target is signed by both Lind's and personalized to Walt whoever he was .... kinda cool collectible.

Bullet Hole Art by THE SHOOTING LINDS, Winchester MarksmenDot and Ernie Lind were performance shooters employed by Winchester throughout the 1940's and 1950's. They performed at military bases, shooting clubs, and county fairs for over 30 years. They were featured in Ripley's in the 1950's and Dot consulted MGM during the making of "Annie Get Your Gun".
The "artwork" is a sheet of thin steel, 20" by 28", outlining an Indian head, "drawn" by Winchester rifles at machine-gun speed.

Way-cool. Love the back story too. Thanks

From bygone days, I recall seeing such demonstrations in the 1930s, representatives from gun and ammo companys put on such demonstrations advertising their companys products. Do not recall any names but as a kid, well remember these events. Wonder if this is still done anywhere? Jerry

Thanks guys, 100 shots on the first one and 130 on the second.
I cheated though and drew a picture with a chalk stone on the first one.
The second one i drew a picture on brown paper and taped it over the tin.
Fun project and thanks for the inspiration rem81auto 8-)
