After several years of trying, and some great help from member Grumpa and his 32 remington brass, i finally connected on a model 8 buck during the Wisconsin Deer season.

That's a very nice buck. I also have been hunting with a 32rem but no luck yet. The model 8 is a great deer gun!

man that's great! it sure is a good feeling to take a deer the old way! God willing I will be in the woods in the morning. I killed one nice little buck this year with my new 1938 model 81 in 35 rem. it has been a while since I killed one with my 32 that is a nice gun you have to, great job. what bullet and load were you using? how for was the shot?.....

Thanks for the comments. I am using 170 grain speers over 3031 to about 1900 fps. 2 shots through the chest at about 50 yards. Not much knockdown power compared to modern calibers, especially if you miss bone, but he only went about 20 yards before piling up. This was my first model 8, which i purchased at a gunshow in Waterloo Iowa in the early 1990's. Still one of my favorites and shoots right on the money.

very nice, don't be fooled by "the modern calibers" the old 32 is just as potent and has all the knock power a 30-30 will ever have. I have killed several deer with mine and most fall on the spot. I use cast lead and the speer sp. with imr 4895
