Recommended ammo for .35 Model 8

Post by Eightisgreat »

What Remington .35 ammo would you recommend for my Model 8? 150 gr or 200 grain?
Thanks!

180 gr rang the gong at the Great Model 8 Event some years back. 8-)

I've used almost exclusively the 200 grain bullets, but a couple of years ago I came across some Remington 150gr spitzers at a pawn shop in SW Alabama. 4 boxes and I've never seen any more of it. I shot a few in the old 81 and they seemed to group ok but the recoil was awful.

The Hornady 200 grain FTX bullets work well, you just need the correct top punch so as to not squash the noses.

Sir, I also have used the ftx bullets to reload for 35 Remington. Also used the Hornady factory ammunition. They all worked well in my m8/81s,several different ones. I’d definitely recommend it for deer hunting. It kills them right now.
Thanks for your time

Been hunting white tails in upstate NY since I was 11/12 years old with my dad and grandad. Always carried a M8 35 just like they did. 55 plus years.
Back then Rem 200 and 220 grain were available, now only 150 or 180 grain can be found around my home if any at all.
I contacted Remington a couple years ago and they are still producing 35 ammo but only in a single production run each year.
Gun shows are my main source of ammo for all my old Rems and I prefer Remington or Peters factory ammo as I have had a few issues with Super X and reloads.
