I recently received 2 rifles from my grandfather one was a 1907 Winchester 351 and the other was a Rem Model 8. The model 8 was passed to my grandfather from his father. It has the Krieger conversion and a weaver side scope with paperwork. I’m confused when in comes to the stock which was never altered or so the story goes. The stock has a pistol grip with cheek rest/pad and the fore stock is closer to that of an 81 than a model 8. It’s long and fat with beaver tails not short and tapered at the end. Does anyone know of later model 8s that came with different stocks then the earlier 1900s models ie custom orders. The stock is also checkered if that matters. Nonetheless, it’s in amazing condition with about 200 rounds through the bore. Just confused with the stock and if they forgot it was altered at some point or if the Krieger conversion was more than just the removable magazine.
