Short cam pins

I bought two cam pins off Ebay and they are shorter than any 8/81 pins I have worked with. They are the same diameter .249 however they are shorter .459. All the pins I have worked with in the past are between .545 and .561. Will these work work in a bolt without creating a hazard and did Remington go to a shorter pin because they started using a recoil spring on the firing pin, if not what gun was this pin used in

I have a M81 bolt at home on a desk right now. I can get some pin lengths tonight for comparison.

My M81 cam pins are .561" ±.001 long, they ride the firing pin spring's OD in the middle of the bolt. You can also see where they tested the hardness of the cam pins: there are two tiny dings in the OD of each of the pins.

If your .459 pins are not hard (test if a file scratches one end) then they might just be some cut-down steel pin to replace missing cam pins.

Given the pain of replacing/repairing a bolt body, I would want as much cam pin engagement in both the bolt and the bolt body just as a matter of longevity.
