Need infor on L.W. Higgins, Possible Remington Employee 1930

Post by remcrazy »

I'm looking for research materials on a "L.W. Higgins, 1930", who was a possible employee for Remington. Model 8 custom grade, checkered stocks with box engraved to this person! Can anyone help or guide in right direction to find out if he was Remington employee or maybe just owner of this rifle?
Thanks!

Any clues as to where it came from? Region wise.

A quick search shows a High School named for him (if it's the same him) in Marrero, Louisianna.
"L. W. Higgins was named in honor of Lemuel Wallace Higgins, a Superintendent of Jefferson Parish Schools for 24 years."
He had an M.A. from Tulane and published a book called "The Public Schools of Jefferson Parish before the Civil War " in 1938.

I'd say that puts him of the right age to use a model 8. If I recall, you are in TX, so that's close enough to be probable.

Any pictures of what you are talking about?

If I'm right do I get one of those wrenches for free? ;) ... kidding
