Model 8 Left handed Safety lever?

I recently ran across a 1912 Remington model 8 at a gun show and had to have it. This rifle has lever that is attached to the safety that goes down below the magazine and up the left side to allow a left handed shooter to activate/deactivate the safety with your left index finger. Has anyone ever seen these? The blueing/patina seems to match the rest of the rifle.

Save your Pics as "web" files to get them to post. They would be less than 700K in size. works fine.

That's one way to do it! Never seen a Model 8 with a lever like that, it's very unique indeed.

Maybe we should start a "Model 8/81 alternate safety levers" post and share all the custom oddities we've come across, hmmm :?: :?:

This is my first Model 8, I once I held it, I had to get it. It definitely has a little "Character", but it wont be a safe queen. Getting excited about taking it out to the range and hunting with it this fall.

I saw one listed somewhere that had a safety lever on the left side that mirrored the standard safety lever. Where or when I saw this I do not recall.
