Safety inscription

I have three model 8s that do not have the word safe under the lever. The serial number are in the ten, twenty and thirty thousand ranges. I thought only early ones were not marked. Is this common with the total production of the model 8?

Apparently Remington wasn't consistent with this marking. I never looked into this marking until you mentioned it ranman. A quick glance of a handful of rifles on file, found as high as #26299 without "safe", while rifles below and above were marked "safe". It's an odd inconsistency!

The top 8 manufacture date is 1908 serial 104xx in 30-30 rem. Bottom on is 1914 serial 334xx in 35 rem. Both have matching floor plates and no safety inscribed below the lever. These have not been reblued . Maybe both are Monday guns...

Both of mine, 1946 and 1947 Model 81s have "SAFE" under the lever.
