Earliest serial# 81

Post by Mikeshoe72 »

Hello, all! Quick question, what's the earliest (lowest) serial number 81 you own/seen? And does it increase value to have a low serial number 81?

Hey Mikeshoe76,

Great Question. I do not know the lowest serial number of a model 81, but will say I know of one lower than my number 25. It is one digit lower making it number 24. My 81 is in the 25 caliber and is in excellent condition. I have seen pictures of the number 24 and it is equally in excellent condition. I have no idea whether a low number, other than number 1, would be of greater value than other model 81's. I know that my 81 is of higher value, in my opinion, because it is a rare 25 caliber and Remington made very few of the 25 in the model 81. Value is normally determined by condition unless there are special features.

If you have seen a lower serial number, please let us know more about the rifle. If you can get some pictures, we would love to see them.

Kindest Regards,

Not to be one of those "one upper" guys, but a friend of mine owns serial 22. It's in .30 and it's pretty nice! I will see if he will let me snap a pic of it.

The lowest I've seen is #21. I believe it was on gunbroker sometime ago...
