I have read of some issues of firing when releasing the bolt on some of the older Model 8. I have yet to let mine "fly" not knowing if there is an issue with a Model 8 made in 1932.

Does my 1932 Model 8 have a firing pin spring? Should I be concerned?

As you likely read on other posts the early model 8`s without a firing pin (rebound) spring could have an issue with slam firing if the pin became stuck in the forward firing position. This might occur with grease and crud sticking it or from a bent damaged pin. While an isolated problem it does bear consideration. Your 1932 model should have a rebound spring but there is no guarantee that it is present. The recent post here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3749 brought that subject up. Somewhere down the road his must have hit the shop floor and didn`t make it back inside the rifle. An examination of yours would be required to be 100% sure. If it is missing the link on the other post is a source for a replacement spring.

Thanks for the info Sarge. When I figure out how to pull the bolt out and disassemble it I will look for the spring.

Last night I slugged the barrel (.357) so I can cast up some lead bullets.

Like my A5 I really like the way the Model 8 shoots. It hits like a hammer!

Not me....wish I could claim it though. Found it while searching the net a few years ago. He sure did a great job. Text descriptions are good but having a close up photo to go with it sure helps.
