Loads for .300 Savage and .35 Remington needed

I need a light "plinking" type lead bullet load for both the .300 Savage and .35 Remington in the 8/81. I've tried a light load in the .35 Remington using 158 gr lead bullets I had, but it did not cycle reliably.

I do not think you will find a plinking load that will reliably cycle any semi-auto rifle. The best you can do is check starting loads in any reloading manual and back off until you fail to get cycling then use the lowest power load that did cycle the action.
