Question about carry straps.

Post by Lil' Bill »

Hi All.....

I'm noticing that most of the pics online show the model 81 set up for a carry strap. Was that more common than not? I ask because neither of mine are so equipped.

Thanks!

Sling swivel were an option on both the Model 8 & 81, but many of those found today are not factory. Proper location for the front swivel should be in the hole in the barrel jacket (not in the forearm!) and for the rear swivel about 4" from the toe. This is what I've seen on factory guns anyways. Hope that helps!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. So the hole in the barrel jacket...mine has a screw in it. Is that usually the case? Is that screw simply a plug, or does it also have another function?

that's affirmative Bill, the flush flathead screw just acted as a filler/plug screw from the factory.
