81's Year Made?

Post by remington »

I need help identifying year made for of my two model 8s? Their seems to be a conflict of serial numbers and year made between this website dates made and the John Henwood book of dates! Can some figure this out and let me know if it's just me being confused?
Serial Numbers as follows:
SN# 67424
SN# 66525

remington,

judging by your serial numbers it appears you have Model 8's not 81's. This might help with the confusion? To get an accurate date always go by the date code (letters stamped on the left hand side of the barrel jacket just ahead of the receiver). If you provide the date codes for your rifles we can tell you the month and year of assembly.

Hey Thanks 81 Police, I corrected the original message, My Rem's are 8's, anyway, the John Henwood book show's the rifles were made in 1931 but on this website it show the serial numbers were made in 1934? Why the difference? I also will look up the date codes later. Thank you!

The serial numbers we have posted are from Henwood's book. Keep in mind the date code and serial number date don't always coincide, however the serial number (receiver manufacture date) should be earlier than the date code or right at. Your date codes would help.
