Re: hoter ammo
I wound up with 11 boxes of ammo for the 8 & 81 for $289.00 including shipping and insurance. That's $26.27 per box delivered. Not to bad considering today's current ammo prices.
Now just to convince the wife that this was great.

I guess some of you have been wondering where I have been for the last 2 years. Doing fine and was just waiting for the elusive 25 Rem that I have not been able to aquire in a condition that I liked. There have been many out there, but the price was based on being a 25 Rem and not the quality of the...

Well, I am wrong, the pre 11 would fall in the S/N range if started at 10,000. But I would think it would have been toward the 1909 or 1910 years of production with that range. My next post will be about M8 and M81. I promise. I have been thinking about it for a long time and I think the wrong seque...

Agh! I left out the pre 11 in my previous post which is S/N 9489 which is also out of range. it does have the Remington and Browning patent info on the left side of the receiver and nothing on the barrel. So, I think 1905.

Sighthound, You seem to be most knowledgeable on the model 11. Do you know an estimate of how many were manufactured? I do have an early "Sportsman" with a four digit serial number. It appears to me that the Sportsman started with a new set of serial numbers. So, it would be a total of how...

Has anyone take apart a Marble's tag sight and been able to get it back together with the proper spring tension? I saw somewhere it takes a jig to accomplish this. That is one stout little spring in there and a lot of pieces to line up and get the screw started in the nut.

I do have serial number 69551 with I think AE barrel date code. The E is stamped real light on the bottom and at first I thought to be an F. I have looked with high power magnifying glass and it is an E. That makes it March of 1936. As you can see, this does not follow any of the charts in Henwood's...

If you go back to my post on Nov. 1, 2009 with topic of Model 8 Serial Numbers, you will find that I was trying to show the math is incorrect in adding the 640 rifles in 1936 to the 1935 total of 68841. The latest serial number for 1936 should be 69481 and NOT 69581 as shown by Henwood and duplicate...

Ah, the only thing I see wrong with your wish list is the pistol grip butt stock. I have seen one out there, curved tang trigger plate ...
