Re: Highest M8 Serial #?
This is in response to Cam asking about any higher serial numbers of model 8's. He does mention that Jack1653 owns S/N 69908 which is higher than the highest number referenced in Henwood's book of 69899. I just purchased 69928 but have not received it yet. It is a 32 REM with the round knob semi-pis...

Here is another entry. This is a standard grade M8 with special checkered butt stock and forearm in 30 REM. It is serial number 61600 making it a 1930 rifle. It has the flat semi-pistol grip stock and the fairly rare steel bottom tang butt plate with non-slip grooves. Please note the smooth silver i...

Here is one of my entries. This is a model 8 in 32 REM with steel shotgun but plate, round knob semi-pistol grip stock. Serial number 39072 making it a 1917 rifle. This stock and butt plate is much smaller than the "regular" M8 butt plate and stock. I call it my "petite" M8. See ...

Re: Model 8 in slow motion
If you really study the video, you will see that there is no kick of the rifle until the action is all the way back. This may explain the unexpected kick of these rifles. Instead of feeling just the force of the ammo, we feel the mass of the bolt carrier and the barrel coming to a rapid stop in the ...

I have some listed on GunBroker right now. It is the Winchester "Patch" ammo. I also have four more boxes of it. I need $25.00 per box with shipping being $15.00 with $2.00 more per each additional box. The other boxes are in slightly better shape than the one shown on GB, but all are open...

I use a very common "secret" tool that works just great to remove the barrel jacket bushing. Most of you will already have one, but if not, you can buy a cheap one at a hardware store for less than $10.00. I use the Winchester choke spanner wrench on the barrel nuts. Get the one with the w...

These rifles are very easy to load without the feeder clips. Just put the cartridge in vertically just forward of the mag side clips, press down and lean it forward. The magazine will almost suck it in. That is why most clips were discarded and are now hard to find. ROB

The screw does basically nothing. I still think the whole problem is with the detent ball in the receiver. If it is not there or frozen in, it will not catch the indented semicircles in the safety arm. If the ball is still there, it may just be stuck and you can release it with penetrating oil and p...

You got a real deal. The ammo is worth a minimum of $100.00 and the Krieger detachable mag, adds about $100.00 or more. So, you got a pretty decent rifle for $300.00.

I have a replacement safety handle and a safety arm that I am willing to sell. I think maybe your problem is with the detent ball in the receiver that is not catching the detent holes in the safety arm. I am sure that can be repaired by a compitent gunsmith.

One other advantage of the loop sling is that there are no metal parts. Most other types of slings will have swivels that allow metal to metal "clink" that will spook close range game if the hunter is not very careful. The game can get away very quickly.
