Suggest you try the Hornady 140g Monoflex, I'm having pretty good luck with them & Leverrevolution powder. Another potential could be the 160g FTX. These are a little lighter, great ballistic coefficient, with modern design for 30-30 velocities. The Monoflex being a solid has great accuracy pote...

To solve the cookie mystery; its an old fashioned anti rust sponge. It probably has a desiccant & an O2 absorber originally. Now it's kinda crumbly. I leave in place cause it may have been placed during the repair. Not likely, just maybe. :D :lol:

RMan, a quick note; keep an eye :shock: on the bolt rotation. When you push back it can turn out of line w/ the bbl block. If so, no sweat, ;) pull bolt back @ half way, (releases the bolt lock) then push it back vertical with a dowel or such. Many of these rifles have sold "busted" becaus...

Sarge you should see the M11 in my brother's rack. Even prettier, love shooting w/ the 2 ivory beads on the vent rib, just doesn't have all the scroll work. ;) Still she's prettier.

Jack there are several of those I've never seen; let alone one a Model 8. From the vintage it's pretty clear they were never available for the 81s. I note some were designed for mounting on the wrist of the stock. :shock:
