That is unusual. I like. You realize it's a pre-Model 8, referred to a Self Loading Rifle? I'd be real curious if the tang stock screw is in a second tapped hole of the frame tang. A semi grip tang on the early rifles is also unusual. The smith that added the 81 trigger group & stock looks like ...

Be sure to check for mushrooming of the firing pin or the bolt carrier. They can wear over years of strikes. I always pull the bolt back half way & release the hammer to relieve the springs on my Ladies. That also prevents a dry fire on the firing pin.

I agree, the lady may look fair on the outside. In the barrel jacket it's usually decades of dust & oil varnish if you're lucky. Lots of penetrating oil, soak for a week, maybe a heat gun, plus tools to remove the barrel nut & bushing. Sometimes the barrel bushing is very challenging. It too...

I can dig it. You are right the "to the left" scope does make for odd ergonomics. But so does straight up ejection. If you come up with a viable option for our Ladies I'm sure there would be lots of interest here. JMB was an innovative designer at worst, we can follow his example.

Look for it, one of our guys drilled a short rail for the rear sight boss & mounted a reflex sight. A shotgun scope could be mounted the same. BUT you could try the Pachymar mount, the Griffin & Howe, or the Williams mounts. Yes they require drill/tap of the receiver, but the G&H mount h...
