From what I can see a fine looking 81 and a great caliber to get you started - the one that the rifles were designed for. I've found the ammo at gun shows for "relatively" reasonable prices.

Under the holes there is suppose to be a plate with threaded holes that act as the nuts for your screws. Seems, that there was a bit of a flange on the plate above the holes that helped align the plate and start the screws. At least that's the way I remember it and I'm sticking to it. 8-)

Thanks for the tips on refinishing and the thoughts on sights. One of the reasons I picked up the Marbles is that to me it seems the "classic" tang sight for the Model 8. The Williams looks out of place and foreign to the rifle. Agree with that. That was the same reason I picked up a coup...

Folks have found notes, money, and all sorts of stuff in the stock. That is a great find having the owners name and information. I have yet to find anything in mine. As to the removalable mags/clips, many of us have found Henwood's book an invaluable resource regarding our love of the ugly-hump-back...
