Re: Installed my Dockendorff front sight on an M8
I just got one with the gold cross hairs on gunbroker , do not have it in my hand yet .The pictures of it looked reddish , not blue or black . Does anyone know if a sight like this can be blued in a tank to match the barrel ? Also how did the gun shoot with it ? I'm pairing it up with the Lyman aper...

Re: sling swivels
Thank you all, and Cam especially as the reason I asked my question was, ---- I have NO extra screw in my barrel jacket, as I looked and looked so , it seemed the ONLY option was the take down screw. My gun was made in 1920 and so it seems they had NOT done this as of yet .SOOOO how to install ? If ...

Re: water buffalo with a 8?
Sorry to hear you were ill , if you can advise a good place in Texas to hunt the W.B , it would be great . I was looking forward to the results . Good luck on the Red Deer hunt. Being able to hunt WB with out going to Africa, which is way to expensive for me is a nice option to have .

Re: sling swivels
Thanks , so you remove the screw that has a little sling swivel shaped handle that holds the fore end to the barrel for the take down feature and replace that screw with one that has a large sling swivel shape that then serves as both the take down screw and the swivel ? Mine allready has a sling sw...

Re: Frozen take down lever
Not sure how I would do this unless I had a barrel full and stuck the entire barrel down to the screw , LOL ,unless I just put a few drops on the threads and tried that . I think they sell a product to apply to frozen nuts etc , I have to see .

Frozen take down lever
I just got my model 8 and when I took off the fore end to take the gun down , the take down lever will not move . I put as much arm pressure on it a I felt comfortable in doing . I do not want to break anything . What is the safest way to try and get this to turn ?

sling swivels
I see on Ebay and gun broker some screw in solid sling swivels , they are marked for a model 8 and 81 Remington . I did not think Remington ever offered them , did they ? If not isn't that false advertising ? I prefer a sling on a hunting rifle but is there enough meet on that fore arm for a screw i...

Aperuture sight for Model 8
Anyone have a reasonably priced tang aperture sight that fits in the one hole mounting system of a Model Remington for sale or trade ( I have a few killer custom knives worth more than the sight I would consider a one on on swap for ). No Ebay padded auctions please . Thank you .

Thanks would be good to find some old info from Remington catalogs or articles . I see these cases in all sizes but the shorter one makes sense . I would have to see how an 8 fit in one I guess to make a better guess .

Good idea I think the 300 savage operates at something over 40,000 psi and the 35 is n the 30.'s . I could be wrong but if they are staying in the standard pressure range it should not be ober the 300 Savage . I will find out

I am looking for a working Model 8 with a great barrel in 35 Remington that has a trashed stock. I also do not care about the bluing on the metal parts . What I want is a gun I can have as a project to restock , blue , engrave etc for a classy hunting rifle . Want the tang peep and but plate as well...
