Re: New FN owner looking for information and advice
My grand and glorious opinion is thus: just give it a good cleaning, inside and out. If you're unsure of take down procedures there is scads of helpful advice around here. Being an all steel gun, it makes nothing of harsh cleaners like gun scrubber, to get the old gunk out of the action, and then so...

Re: Parkerized Model 81 (Update) and Cartridge Case Issue?
Could be old brass, though I suspect that, all brass and primers not being created equal, it may be that Sperry was using a primer that didn't fit quite tight enough in the Rem-UMC primer pockets. Personally, I've found that Rem primers fit best in Rem csses,Win in Win cases and CCI in nothing, real...

Re: Stripper clips
If one must have stripper clips (known in more refined circles as "exotic dancer clips") for one's 35 Rem or 300 Savage, M1 clips work like a charm. For my small caliber rifles I employ the above method of loading.

Re: Hunting in Lower Alabama
Looks like a successful hunt! Was this one taken with your .25? It *was* a successful hunt. :) I got a doe on opening day and this fellow three days later on the same stretch of road. She was 100lbs and he 180. Not too bad for opening week. I only just got the rest of the tools to do .25, so that w...

Re: new Rossi 92 .357 to match my Ruger SS .357
I picked up a Rossi .357 lever carbine recently from my local gun emporium of death. The gun was on the rack in the aisle and was listed as new and instead of a rear sight it had a picatinny rail fitted. The counter guy found the box but no rear sight so I got a wee price break on it. :) I had an ex...

Re: Model 8 stock removal.
Two methods that I can think of: Take a rubber mallet and tap, Not hit- tap!- the end of the stock comb right in front of the wrist. Gently.
Or, one could get a friend and one grab the receiver and the other the stock and play tug of war.

Re: Pawn Shop Find!
These guns are exceedingly rare here in the Southeast. This is only the third one I've ever seen in the wild and it's the second one I bought over the counter, the first being my 81 which I found at a gun show. I passed up an 8 at another pawn shop a couple of years ago because it had obvious mechan...

Thank you, gentlemen, and it was quite a shock, I can tell you, to see the old pogo stick on the wall. "The rest of the story" is that the pawn shop owner, while a nice man himself, was not the owner of the rifle. His employee of many years collects and sells antique guns of all kinds and ...

Yeah, my .300 Savage has a Remington installed recoil pad and it's still quite lively on the shoulder of your humble correspondent. .35 Rem is no daisy either.

Re: Buffalo arms 30 Rem for sale
And as to reloading, I now have everything I need to reload .30 Rem since my .30 Rem trim/form die came in. Midway has them as well as the die sets. I promised myself I'd only take up one weird caliber a year so I'll have to wait till next year to take up .35 Rem.
