I bought this nice Model 8 32 Rem awhile back and thought I would share a pic. The thingy that looks like a safety is pulled straight back to release the clip. I like it and hope you do too. Dennis

Jack, I put a few feelers out on a couple other boards where their are some pretty smart guys. I had more than a few people think the symbols on your FN may be from the ancient alphabet >> " Runes " <<. I guess if you think it is worth the effort google Runes and start searching. Dennis

I'll bet it's the same gun. I remember it had another problem or so ??. I saw it early and thought it abit overpriced but it did change hands to another dealer ... maybe F.A.B can confirm he was with me.

If it's the same rifle I saw at the Louisville gun show a month or so ago it most definitely has a chrome butt plate.

I think if it were mine I would have a good welder fill in the holes with a mild steel/coat hanger. I would than dress down and finish with 600 grit paper and do a Cold blue or Blue Wonder touch up. I bet it would look a thousand percent better. Dennis

Borrowed from another sight I frequent:
I use a hair dryer to facilitate oil removal. The heat causes the oil to come right to the surface rather quickly, and I wipe continually with a rag soaked with alcohol.
More drastic methods are out there if you case is extreme.
