Re: POE rifle and the missing Mag
Wow! Amazing.... A Peace Officer Equipment 15 round-mag was sold for 2.000$ today! It was in a good condition, but such a price is a lot. For that money you can reproduce one and start a production line..... Well, ave to look further, for such a mag to buy! Right about $2,500.00 by the time the tax...

Re: Stith Side Scope Mount Screw Thread Size
I wish i had a way to measure the pitch on the screws, any thread pitch gauge i have access to doesn't go that small.
Pure guess from looking at other posts on the forum. 5-48 range ???
Best would be a good genuine gunsmith or well outfitted gun shop to help.

Re: Interesting history on this one...
While having some coffee i read some more of the posts in here.
No way to substantiate anything, interesting enough the left of my buttstock has this stamp. Wish they showed the 139 stamp in their photos.
Neat to have some theories, but I wouldn't bet on anything.

All gussied up. Burnt the midnight oil finishing my thorough cleaning.
81Police- It certainly didn't give any trouble and upon full tear down, cleanup was relatively easy.

Thank you Hibby, it now has a place beside its M8s and 81 relatives. I do have do have a couple questions that may be answered here. That wood sure has some figure to it. That's a rare sight combination, those flip fronts are really cool and the King rear are seldom seen.

no drill sling
I was given this Butler Creek shotgun sling and figured it would be fit for a springpole.
There is leather stitched where the sling goes around the barrel "holds tight." I wouldn't recommend using this on a higher condition gun, although on a user I see no foul.

Re: Special police M81 on gun broker
If you look at any 8 or 81 in less than mint condition, you'll see those 2 spots on a factory gun where the 2 "rivets" in question are. I haven't seen a lot of special police rifles to know if a rivet "of sort" was done on others. I do know that the spots they correspond with are...

Happy to hear you had a positive change in the rifle! Hope that ironed out your problem. A couple of my rifles when I took apart the shroud were pretty cruddy and rusty. Cool that you made a tool yourself to break the barreled assembly down. Looks don't matter as long as you can safely take it down ...

Thanks Dan. The figure of the buttstock is part of the reason why I bought it. I also I didn't have a 32 Rem 81. The buttstock is numbered to the gun. Thanks for the compliment's gentlemen. Phyrbird, the Stith equipped rifle didn't come with a Lyman peep, it has a filler screw where I can only assume a Redfield peep would've been. The 35 Rem pictured above does have a Lyman. I do like the Stith mounts too! I was pleasantly surprised that a South P...

I received my new to me 300 Savage Model 81 this week. Unfortunately the old Weaver K2.5 is too foggy for service. I may send it out for repair, or find a nice & clear replacement for it. I figured after giving it a solid once over, I'd shoot it. I then decided that I may as well get one of each...

Welcome to the forum E. explorer. It appears your serial number falls into 1912 production. The RP isn't a date code "date codes are on left side", date codes weren't stamped until about 10 years after your gun was built. Here's a link to a guide to figure out when your rifle was made. htt...
