So I made a couple of these picatinny bases for our Model 8 or 81 autoloading rifles. It should be a reversible modification primarily for the addition of a red-dot or reflex sight. You should be able to use your factory nut-plate and rear sight screws to install it. I'm asking $40 shipped (lower 48...

occasionally the bolt will cam itself 90° while it is being cycled by hand and once after firing, I have to push it into place with a tool so it is straight up and down. That's the plan. Add another nut plate for a pair of bases and mount something out front. To be honest, my M81's accuracy is so poor, the red dot at 50 yards is probably good enough. Here are 5 different 35 rem rounds from two different barrel/bolt combinations in an M81. These are factory 200gr core-locts so probably pretty mild on the pressure. With the barrel removed and the bolt all the way back (and the hammer cocked) you can hold onto the bolt handle and depress the magazine stop/bolt release catch. This will release the bolt/carrier. You should be careful of letting it fly without the barrel installed as the handle will likely ding th...
