Welcome....and congratulations on your grandfathers Model 8. I also inherited my grandfathers Model 8....it is stamped 25 Rem on the barrel extension, but he had it changed to 30 Rem...re-bored. It is a rifle that I dearly cherish, and hunt with.

Way to bring it in to the center of the target Mitch.... I need to do a little more adjustment on mine to be that good....I had some groups in the 2" range, but ran out of time.... going to go out and sight in a couple more as soon as the weather gets a little better....woke up to a couple inch...

Hi Keenan, Nice looking 30....I have two model 8's manufactured in 1907 and 1911. The 1911 30 Rem was my Grandfathers' that he hunted with for most of his life. That is a nice looking Rem 14....the purchase price is now $435 as of yesterday...and that includes shipping.... After looking at all the 14's and 141's on gunbroker, I feel very fortunate to have gotten the Rem 141 in 35 Rem that I did for $455...it is all original and very pristine, with a deluxe ...

Wildgoose, I think you are correct...it appears that the barrel is from a 141.
He has another 14 in 32 cal that has the correct barrel and front sight.

Just picked up a Remington made Browning A-5, in 16 gauge, with a Weaver choke system. It also includes 5 weaver chokes. A little finish flaking on the heel of the butt stock, but that I can fix. Mitch...let me know if you find the book on the 14's and 141's, as I just won a bid on a 141 in 35 Rem, with a date code of DU U. I tried to look up the date code on the remington society charts, and near as I can tell it is a Sep 1949 manufacture date. Not sure if I am reading it correctly though. ...

I agree with Dwalt and Imfuncity, I also think that the stock lines of the 8 are sleeker than the 81 pistol grip. Having made that statement,...and checking the rifles in my gun cabinet....every one of them have the pistol grip stock except my Model 8's and my Rossi 22 LR pump. I still stand by my p...
