For the record, there are no rules on here regarding posts on live auctions, we have always welcomed them. There are, in fact, very few rules apart from always extending kindness and respect to other members even amidst differences of opinion.

Re: C grade at auction
The bolt carrier cracking/chipping around the extractor groove is not exactly uncommon. It's possible lateral pressure is exerted on the carrier by the extractor and that pressure creates enough stress on the thin groove of the carrier that is splits. I've always wondered if the pressure was created...

Thank you for the kind words Jack! I actually talked to Marc yesterday and we revisited his 2008 Namibia trip. He said he also shot a Kudu and a jackal with the Model 8 in 35Rem. None of the PH's had ever seen a Model 8 before, but one said a distant relative in South Africa had an FN 1900.

New Article on the Model 8 in AFRICA
Big Enough for the Biggest Game: The Remington Autoloading Rifle in Africa Was the Model 8 in 35Rem suitable for African big game? Was it reliable enough for dangerous game? Did Teddy Roosevelt actually take one to Africa? Who really championed the Autoloading Rifle in Africa? Hope y'all enjoy! I we...

I've never seen a 141-B, that's a beautiful rifle. You can really see it's a contemporary of the 81-B
Thanks for sharing! I'm never been a big lover of the 14 or 141 personally but that one really catches my eye, WOW!

That's a pair of beautiful Remington's! That 14 looks so awesome with the mount & scope. I love proper vintage mounts and vintage scopes on these older rifles. They have a look to them that's unique. Thanks for sharing the story!

2022 Model 8 & 81 Prices ????????
Hello all, We have a page on our site that is quite old, "2012 Blue Book Values". A LOT has changed since then. I would like to get a consensus from those who watch auction selling prices (not necessarily listing prices) and update this page. Here's the info I'm looking, no longer specific...

Re: Model 8 at auction
I think there are several possibilities none of which necessarily have greater evidence than the other. Do I think rifle #22093 has matching wood? My guess would be it does I think your rifle got a wood upgrade, at the Remington factory, with whatever they had on hand. Instead of cutting checkering ...

I'm 50/50 on it. You're spot on with your observations. Perhaps more telling will be removing the magazine and seeing how it has been modified might be the telling factor.
