My advice would be to buy new brass. At least you would know it had not been used or for that matter how many times it may have been reloaded. I would not risk my rifle by buying used brass.

Congratualations!!!! Anytime you can add a rifle like this one to a collection,you are doing well. The 25-35 is rare one especially in the Grade D. I like it and you did very well. The wood is fantastic as is the whole rifle. How did you happen to stumble on to this one?

A picture would help make the determination. My guess is if it is that shiny, someone may have buffed it out. To the best of my knowledge, there were no nickle or chrome plated butt plates. There were however many metal butt plates that were factory.
