Re: Sights for Model 8

Jack there are several of those I've never seen; let alone one a Model 8. From the vintage it's pretty clear they were never available for the 81s. I note some were designed for mounting on the wrist of the stock.

Whoa, if it's not inletted for the toe on top or bottom then it had a plastic buttplate. Unless it is one that had a "S" curve military style plate. If so the stock will be fitted (carved) to slide into the plate with mount screw blocks glued in the holes drilled in the butt. I've one like...

Heating of some kind may do the trick. Be REAL careeful with the heat gun if used. A good idea is to eyeball the butt screw holes, the centering of vertical on stock,& L/R on the stock B4 any bend. You can get an unpleasant surprise if you don't check first. Experience is a hard teacher....

Suggest you connect w/ RCBS, if they are like many other manufacturers in our chosen hobby they may take dramatic warranty action. I've had Ruger do considerable work on one of my babies, they charged Nada for parts & fitting of a cylinder. I only was out shipping for purloined parts. Weaver has...

Soaking in a good reliable solvent like Hoppes is good. I have also used a small brass brush for tight areas to avoid wearing the finish.
