Re: sighting issue

There is a couple of ways to seat the front sight: One is with Locktite, but then you cannot move it. The other it to dimple the bottom of the front sight with a center punch. Re: barrel head

The barrel extension is pinned to the barrel. I bought a .30 Remington barrel on eBay and the barrel nut wouldn't go on, and as I messed around with it the barrel turned. Anyway I ended up with it as the seller was " well you didn't ask blah, blah..." so I took the high road and kept it. I...

Re: 1927 Model 8 problem cycling (Jam issue)

What you describe makes me wonder if your cartridge is too long. You mention a spire point, but not the caliber. We have rifles in four calibers, a .35, .30, .25, and a .300. A spire point 150 grain FMJBT seems to be fine in the .300 Savage, but would be too long in the .30 Remington. Using the Horn...

The tang sights and now the receiver sights are getting to be an expensive proposition for these rifles. A Marble's R 6 tang sight just sold on eBay for $191.50, with most tang sights being listed for about $250.00 BIN. A Redfield 102 N receiver sight just sold for $159.27. I think that the only tan...

I sometimes wonder why Remington didn't just use the .35 Remington as the parent case for the .25, .30, & .32 Remington rather then marketing what was or is essentially rimless version of the 25-35 WCF, 30-30 WCF, & .32 W.S. I cannot help but think that with the slightly larger diameter case...

The 8 & 81's are drilled and tapped for a tang sight. The receiver sights seem to be an afterthought and probably became popular after WWI.
Unless the seller wanted a lot more with the Lyman tang sight you have went for it, as these sell for around $250.00 on eBay.
