Re: Remington Model 8 vs STEEL!!

Very nicely done Cam. That old 35 Rem. UMC ammunition seemed to really take care of business. The 35 Rem. caliber is my personal favorite round in the Model 8's & 81's. It really does the job in the thick timber & cedar swamps where I do most of my whitetail hunting. In my opinion, the heav...

That's a beauty for sure Jack! We like that its a Sheriff Dept. rifle verses the L.A. Police Dept. rifles. A bit more rare than the L.A. Police rifles. We received the heads-up on this rifle a couple a months ago from one of the forum members. Ironmen Arms & Antiques had it listed in their mili...

Regarding the price range of a FN 1900. Condition is everything when purchasing one of these fine rifles. On a side note regarding selling a rifle... Hey ROBOPUMP, The butt plate is a "Semi-Military" style (pg. 48 of Henwood's book), which is quite rare for the Model 8 and a very nice factory option. The rear sling swivel eyelet is commonly found on the Remington "Special Police" Model 81's and it is suited for the Hook Style...

Hello, To answer your question... "Yes", you can tell the difference between the two mounts. The SM-81 mount for the Model 8 and Model 81, will have a "curve" to the back side of the mount and/or mating surface, where the mount mates to the receiver. The SM-760 has a flat back, ...
