Sir, Be sure to look at the juncture between the barrel jacket extension and the barrel jacket. If it’s been repaired incorrectly, that may be your problem. Look for signs of welding/ braising, or soldering. This was sometimes done by people who didn’t know what else to do.

I’ve purchased M8s with the mag spring installed backwards before. But I’ve never had one break before. There are always first times for everything though.
Usually they just fail to load/ eject correctly. You can look that tidbit up in Henwoods book.

Sir, I have shot many deer with my model 8@81s in 32rem. One loading that seems to work well for me is Hornady or Speer 170gr jsp bullets over 31.5 gr.of 3031. BLC2 also worked well especially with the Hornady leverevolution 165 gr.bullets.,with 31.3 gr. Cartridge length escapes me as of this minute...

Sir, I believe that the 8c rifles came with English walnut. They also had finer checkering,versus the deluxe checkered 8 a rifles. My 8c also has a factory grip cap. I'm sure glad you got this beautiful rifle. Those 30/30 caliber engraved pieces are quite scarce. I can't remember ever seeing one in person! I own one of the 35 caliber engraved pieces, and would like to get an engraved caliber 30 some day.Congrats again.
