Thanks for the tips, Cam. With the prices as low as they are on any AR lowers, I got to buy one or two for a future build.

And I've really liked what I've learned about 6.5 Grendel ballistics, performance, and such.

Adam, any standard lower will work. As you mentioned, only change in the lower will be the magazine itself (6.5 or 6.8 specific). A cool project for a gunsmith would be a Model 81 in 30Rem converted to 6.8SPC For the Grendel 6.5 you use, which mags have you had luck with? I've read a bunch, just wo...

Guys, I believe my recently acquired Model 81 shows a possible manufacture date of June 1948. I base this on my barrel jacket code, PTT, which is also serialed to my receiver - 39763. In fact, the serial is repeated in whole or part on all the usual places, including the butt stock trigger guard rec...

Roger had the right answers about springs being unique to each of the 8/81 cartridge groups - the .25/.30/.32 should have a "shared" recoil and buffer spring set, as would the .35 and the .300. That part is not hard to manipulate - in other words, if you have the proper .300 springs, that ...
