Re: Shooting Times write up on the Model 8

Guys, my latest Buffalo arms catalogue shows that they have 30 rem. Brass still in stock. I don't have a clue if they still really have any or not. It's probably worth one phone call. Any obsolete m-8/81 brass will be expensive but my gut feeling is, buy it now, it's only gonna get more expensive s...

Re: Original finish

I use a recipe that is 1/3rd each boiled linseed oil, mineral spirits, and spar varnish. Think of it as a thinner homemade version of TruOil with a lot more UV inhibitors. Regular varnish and less mineral spirits would make it TruOil basically. I like it thin so I can creep up on the amount of shine...

Re: Seeking Information

Can you put a picture up of the rifle? If it is marked .30 Remington(or Rem), then that is the ammunition you need. .30-30 is a completely different cartridge design that companies still sell ammunition for(including Remington), and will not function in a .30 Remington gun. The only sources of ammo ...

I think Remington is between .30 Rem production runs while the rifles are getting brought back out of the depths of closets, attics, and basements. I am no expert, but I did not know Bubba could work that kind of magic on anything but milsurps. I wonder why they blued the barrel itself? And you gotta love the 2x4 pine forestock. The seller seems to be giving full disclosure, or at least disclosing the visible problems.
