I wound up with 11 boxes of ammo for the 8 & 81 for $289.00 including shipping and insurance. That's $26.27 per box delivered. Not to bad considering today's current ammo prices.

Well, I am wrong, the pre 11 would fall in the S/N range if started at 10,000. But I would think it would have been toward the 1909 or 1910 years of production with that range. Agh! I left out the pre 11 in my previous post which is S/N 9489 which is also out of range. it does have the Remington and Browning patent info on the left side of the receiver and nothing on the barrel. So, I think 1905.

Has anyone take apart a Marble's tag sight and been able to get it back together with the proper spring tension? I saw somewhere it takes a jig to accomplish this. That is one stout little spring in there and a lot of pieces to line up and get the screw started in the nut.

I think I have one for you and you can have it if you want. I just got it in from Gunbroker auction #206524927. It is barrel date code DY - Sept. 1930. The serial number is 65137 which I know is not in your range, but from the John H. book on page 91 shows a receiver manufacturing date of July 1930....

I do have serial number 69551 with I think AE barrel date code. The E is stamped real light on the bottom and at first I thought to be an F. I have looked with high power magnifying glass and it is an E. That makes it March of 1936. As you can see, this does not follow any of the charts in Henwood's...

If you go back to my post on Nov. 1, 2009 with topic of Model 8 Serial Numbers, you will find that I was trying to show the math is incorrect in adding the 640 rifles in 1936 to the 1935 total of 68841. The latest serial number for 1936 should be 69481 and NOT 69581 as shown by Henwood and duplicate...

Ah, the only thing I see wrong with your wish list is the pistol grip butt stock. Your trigger plate is for the straight stock and you would have to change the trigger plate to go with the much more curved rear tang. This could be some big bucks. I am also a bike rider and I am currently on a Honda Shadow 750 Spirit. I ride most weekends with my youngest son and his friends on sports bikes. I ride the sports bike some times, but still like the cruiser. I did have a Honda 900F, which was quite a bike for it's time also.

I see the parts you need currently listed on gunbroker. I think a bit pricy, but since the gun was free, you would not be out a great expense. What a great find. This rifle does have the first type safety lever and is in great condition except for the wood. Let me know if it is for sale??????

I was not aware of the model 11 with three birds on each side. I just went and checked all of mine. They are one bird on each side. My next model 11 will have three birds on each side. These must be rare. Thanks for the info. I wish there was a Mr. Henwood book on the model 11.
