If am lucky enough to find a Mint in the box 81 this MINTY 81 300 Sav. easily fits the keeper category and cannot be upgraded. The few minuscule things that wrong aren't worth mentioning.... no wear and no varnish chipping or blue wear anywhere. The glare or spotting you see is due to camera flash. ...

OK, here's the dates. The 2 early 8's only 400 numbers apart date to 1908. The later 35 Rem. dates to June, 1929. Dennis

I never really paid much attention to the underside of 8 forends but they can sure be different from one to another. The FE on the left has a raised wood bridge. My first C Grade ....
The rifle has deluxe walnut wood,not standard grade with checkering which is often the case on C's. It has a pistol grip which was extra. It has the rare ribbed crescent butt plate. Also, it's in the second rarest caliber of 32 Rem.... I like it !! :D Scroll down to last gun on the link below http:/...

The $306.51 sight sale IMHO was a perfect storm for the seller. I think 2 guys that had to have it got into a pissin contest. I watch some auctions and they seem to end in the $125.00 price point on average.

The hardness of primers are different from ammo companies.... ar you using the same factory ammo as you were when you had no problems ??.

It's about a 95% in 35 Rem. The guy I bought it from would not let me drop the safety lever for fear of scratching the action frame. I hope you enjoy the pix. Dennis

I agree with everyone that you did a nice job on the restock.
I hope you have not tossed the original wood. I can give you some names of people who do amazing work and could bring it back to where it would be very difficult to see the repairs.

I just got this Model 8 35 Rem. last Friday and it is a beauty. I would grade it as Exc++ and it will go nicely with the minty 2nd year production Model 8 I bought earlier this year.

This would apply to 8's and 81's. I sold my 300 Sav. 81 and everything I now own are 8's in 35 Rem. I would like the boards consenus on what's been the best shooting over the counter Ammo for deer hunting. The brand name , bullet weight etc. tks Dennis

Boy, some of theses guns go through alot. I bought this early 8 (*45850) for parts. I know the butt is trash but I have a couple questions for curiosity sake. The forend is smooth but the butt is checkered and appears to be correct in style at least ?? ... The cheeks have a unique shape and are well...
