Doe With the M81

Between my grand daughter (Old Remington M722 300 Savage) and myself (M81 300 Savage) we took three bucks and one doe. I had a shot on the only doe just this morning. Finally got a chance to put the old 81 back in action.

Re: Remington Model 14 1/2 -A ...Would love some help here.

Hi, The A indicates it is the carbine model of the 14 series. These were all in pistol calibers with short 22" barrels. The switch is a bolt lock thumb safty. Proved to be hard to work with gloved hands, not popular and was dropped on later models. A rare gun and much sought after my Model 14/1...

Well its been about thirty eight years reloading. Twenty eight calibers rifle and pistol together. Two shotshell guages (20/12). And another aspect that goes along with reloading. How much lead ya got piled around and how many bullet moulds? Addiction? I ain't got no stinkin addiction!

Sure looks like someone adapted a more recent flat base style tang sight to the gun. I can see how one might do that considering the cost of the vintage single hole units made for these rifles. Now that the deed has been done it gives you some options. Not really a bad deal at all. I have tang sight...

Yep, my Marbles only lock in the down position. Small silding wedge piece on the forward side of the sight has to be forward for the staff to come up from the vertical. Won't lock the staff when its in the vertical position.
