Replying to. ^ Not sure the best way to use the qoute feature. The very early guns "all first year" had the caliber hand engraved. That stopped "to my knowledge" in 1907. Yes the bolt handle has been modified. The magazine on the first 2 years of production didn't have the side ...

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on picking one of these up, real cool you snagged an early one. I do have a couple of questions though. 1. Awesome!
I'd love to get out west and be able to get a MULE deer "buck" someday. Haven't done my homework on which state is best in general for O.T.C tags.
I assume they're not southern enough to be eating sage? Is it that Mule deer are more game(y) than whitetail deer?

It's a shame that common sense isn't used when they try to come up with regulations and the like. I wonder if they will use certain features "collapsible butt, pistol grip, flash suppressor" of the rifle like Minnesota does or had done. Disclaimer- I'm not a Minnesota resident, what I said...

Very cool shotgun! I have one in the same configuration myself, it's a Montgomery Wards Western field 16 gauge with the same safety. At one point I had 2 12's, a 16 and a 20. I sold all but the 16. All were monty's, the one 12 and 20 were tang safety. An old coworker had a early Stevens 520 that I s...

Mr. Taylor Keep your positive outlook. You're the high bidder on a rare C grade Model 8. The way the sight is mounted. It's no further back than a tang mounted peep, like the Lyman/Marbles "to the effect of striking the shooter". Regarding the position. I feel it's in a cleaner spot "...

Hello John. I'm not as well seasoned as some members here, but here's my opinion. I don't believe that there is a problem "in general" with how an 8/81 is put together that has this issue. I feel that the extractor groove is so thin and close to the top edge of the carrier that if the meta...
