Split case necks on Grafs .32 Rem hand loads
I just shot my recently acquired 1936 first year Model 81 in .32 Rem using handloads of Grafs brass. All 10 rounds suffered split necks and/or shoulders. These were first loads using new brass. I had previously shot 20 of these same loads in my Model 8 .32 Rem and did not have any splits. So..... ov...

Re: Mainspring Screw help
I would really recommend taking the trigger housing out. You do not want to risk buggering up the threads, and that mainspring is under pressure from the hammer, and will not allow the mainspring screw to easily re-engage the threads in the spring. There are several videos on how to remove the trigg...

Re: Mainspring Screw help
Your best best is to remove the trigger housing and relieving the main spring tension by slowly releasing the hammer. Otherwise, you will probably bugger up the threads on the main spring screw or on the mainspring by trying to reattach it without taking the trigger housing out. It is pretty easy to...

Just bought a 1936 first year 81 (.32 Rem) and it came with a Lyman 1AT rear tang sight. However, the post when raised is canted to the right. The sight post itself doesn't appear to be bent... Well.... he said that he did not cut the threads again, but merely chased it using that setting. So, the original factory thread dimensions would have been different. I'm not doing the math because that sounds an awful lot like 16/32" or 1/2" which is what I had a die for and it wouldn't f...

Okay... I give up. The 1/2"-24 tap and die came in and they don't fit either. Too small, and the 9/16"-24 tools were too large. So... I brought the barrel and barrel nut to a competent gunsmith that builds rifles and he is going to mount the barrel in his lathe and chase the threads. I'll ...

Remington may have held the leftover Type 2 levers until the end of the 81 line was in sight, and decided to use up the old stock instead of making more Type 3 levers.
I've only seen one Model 8 on GB that had the lever tack-welded on its shaft.
