Well I got lucky. I was cruising the Numrich Arms web site and found a sight base. On a hunch I ordered it. The hole spacing was correct for the 81 altough the holes had to be bored out. And the sight had to be fit to the barrel jacket.
So now the Model has a folding rear sight and a tang sight.

Re: WTB: Model 81 .35 Remington
The Model 8 in .35 Remington would be a nice woods gun, but I wouldn't pass on a Model 81 in 300 Savage.

Re: A Model 81 in .300 Savage
I've been wanting a 300 Savage for awhile. A Model 99 Savage would have been fine, but a Model 81 was my top choice. Most of the Model 81s I've seen lately were priced too much for the particular firearm or had a deal breaker. My brother and I kind of wanted one we could play with without altering a...

A Model 81 in .300 Savage
I had posted a reference to this rifle in the Q&A section, but will put more data here. Well we went to a gun show, my brother and I and came home with a Model 81 in 300 Savage. We have a Model 8 in .35 that was my Dad's. The gun has some issues, it has been drilled for a scope mount, the front ...

Model 81
Just returned from the gun show with a Model 81 in .300 Savage, the gun has some issues for sure but no deal breakers. We were on our way out and noticed this M81. there was no price on the tag so we offered 300 dollars. Three hundred fifty out the door plus BG check. Most guns I've seen in this con...

Model 8 Sight
Found a Marbles tang sight on Guns International for $65 and bought it. Some blue wear but a good sight and complete. Any way now I'm interested in a folding rear sight. I have an old Williams catalog and they made a blank with dovetail, that came with screws. I'm sure I could make the blank that th...

Very interesring for sure. I'd be happy if my Model 8 had a detachable mag period. Wouldn't have to be 15 rounds either. I guess I'm gonna need a magazine a peep sight and........

Re: Our Remington Model 8
That you guys for the input and kind words. My brother and I needed cash several months and tried to sell it. Well we ain't gonna sell it now. Some of the collectors at the gun show didn't realize it was factory. I had my suspicion it is a "C" grade. When my Dad passed away I dissasembled ...

There is a scene in the movie "Ride the High Country" of one of the Hammond brothers firing a Model 8 across a valley at Steve Judd and companions. Good flick.

OK. This is my second post, and seems in how I already have a photobucket account the pictures should be a done deal. Being a part owner of a Remington Model 8 in .35 Remington, I was cruzing the net and found a link to this site. This is really cool IMO. The rifle was my Dad's so technically it is mine and my brothers. Actually its mine he has Dad's Model 70 300 H & H. I'm gonna post some pictures of our Model...
