I'll take a stab at it. It looks likes a Grade C (or 3). Upgraded fancy wood with checkering, all else the same (no engraving). Have you taken the forearms off? Are there any letters or number stamped in the wood? It is pretty shiny. Do you know if it was ever reblued? Some pictures of the lettering...

It would have definately led to improvements in the design. Browning weapons using the same principles are still in use by our military today. I would have been interesting....Garand who?

No tricks I know of. I've been registered for years so I haven't had to jump through a lot of the hoops, either. They should be able to help you. There should be a link to email them or get some customer assistance.

Very nice. I saw a boxed Mod 8 grade D at the Ohio Gun Collectors Show last year. It was 98% with a leather covered green felt lined box and he wanted $650 for it.
