Re: 1920 Model 8 35 Rem

I'll take a stab at it. It looks likes a Grade C (or 3). Upgraded fancy wood with checkering, all else the same (no engraving). Have you taken the forearms off? Are there any letters or number stamped in the wood? It is pretty shiny. Do you know if it was ever reblued? Some pictures of the lettering...

Re: Speculation:What if the US Military had adopted the Model 8?

It would have definately led to improvements in the design. Browning weapons using the same principles are still in use by our military today. I would have been interesting....Garand who? :D

No tricks I know of. I've been registered for years so I haven't had to jump through a lot of the hoops, either. They should be able to help you. There should be a link to email them or get some customer assistance.

Vintage Autoloaders (Sister site)

http://vintagesemiautorifle.proboards.com/index.cgi?

This is the "stop gap" site that a member started after the original Model 8/81 site went down for a time. It's a good site and encompasses a larger realm of vintage firearms.

Re: my model 8s

Very nice. I saw a boxed Mod 8 grade D at the Ohio Gun Collectors Show last year. It was 98% with a leather covered green felt lined box and he wanted $650 for it. There were two mod 81s at the same show , so I bought one for my son in .25 rem for $225. The market for them is slow here and several ...

35 Remington. It was the only one different than what was already on the market. And it has stood the test of time. 100 years and counting!
