Re: Weak ejection on Model 81 .30 Rem
I agree only to the point that the load needs to provide enough energy to recoil barrel/ bolt carrier far enough to lock carrier back and let the barrel separate from carrier. Extraction and ejection occurs when bolt is static and casing is out of the chamber when barrel returns to battery. There is...

Re: Weak ejection on Model 81 .30 Rem
I believe you are mistaken. when fired ejection of spent case takes place when the bolt carrier has traveled fully to the rear and been locked back til the barrel has moved back forward. Ejection takes place after the barrel is forward enough to be free of spent round. Bolt carrier is not released t...

I have read this post several times and finally realized no one has mentioned that the front top edge on the mag have a small dimple bent in slightly on both sides. First off you must take a common sense approach here. The rifle was together and functional before you disassembled to clean and service, so did you do anything that would affect reassembly of the butt stock to the receiver such as remove and reinstall the action spring tube? If not then butt stock ...

Re: 1927 Model 8 problem cycling (Jam issue)
Some times you have to work on the magazine a bit. Sounds like the round in the mag is pushed out before barrel has returned to battery and released the bolt carrier. Try gently bending the mag lips in a bit to hold round down. Make sure side springs are installed correctly also.

Make sure front screw on bottom tang is tight, this secures the main spring (hammer) and trigger spring. If loose the hammer will not have enough energy when striking firing pin.
Also does firing pin move freely in the bolt carrier and is not broken?

Check the link and make sure it installed in bolt with the rounded corner facing up so no possibility of it binding when bolt is all the way back. Also check magazine indicator as that is what keeps bolt open after last round is fired.

This one happens to be on a 1911 pre M8 in 30-30 Rem. Barrel jacket is typical 1902 patent. I have had this rifle for some time now and decided to check it out.

Had a similar thing happen with a M81 I bought. Some rounds fire some wouldn't. Is this rifle a model 8 as stated or a model 81. Model 8 production ceased in 1936 and never included 300 Savage. 300 Savage came about with the model 81. Quite possible that as long as your rifle was fitted with a 35/300 buffer spring (2.160 OAL) that the recoil spring may be for those calibers also. Also the correct buffer spring for a .30 Rem per Numrick arms is only 1.825 OAL not 1.935 OAL as that is for the .25 Rem. Put all this together and ther...
