update, problem solved. i went to my loading room and trimmed the brass a little mare and that did the trick. i can still see where the lead engages into the lands but not enough to cause any resistance when the bolt is pulled back to extract the round. it shoots perfectly to. thanks for the help.

thanks norm, you can see the rifling marks on the cast and jackets. the problem is the bullet profile. that is a thought on reducing the size of front of the driving band of the cast bullet. i use a star lube sizer that pushes the bullet through from the rear, i don't know how to reduce just the fro...

i have never saw cheeks like those. i don't think the king sight hurts, if anything it helps, they are correct for the time period of the gun and you can always find a standard model 8 sight. that looks like a nice first year gun.

to get oil out of wood i strip the old varnish with wood stripper, then i get a wash tub and use hot water, real hot but be able to put my hand in it but not able to leave it in it. then i use oxy-clean and scrub the wood in the hot water. all the oil will come out.

my 1908 25cal. has a hard plastic semi curved butt plate, it has in a circle in the middle of the plate, remington arms co. it does have checkering.

yep i also use 30-30 dies in 30 rem. i like the look of the real tung oil with a little tru-oil. i sand very little if any. that is the reason i use a semi-matte blue so it won't like a perfectly new finish.

very cool, o still hunt with mine also. i have a model 14r in 30 rem. i have two model 8s one in 32 and i just got one in 25 rem. and a model 81 in 35 what was the load your drand dad used? in my 14r i use blc2 powder with a 150gr. sierra fp. i killed two bucks in 2012 season with the 32 model 8.

i load for the 32 rem. i have one in a model 8 i use 33.5 gr. of imr4895 with a speer 170gr. and i also use 170gr. rcbs cast . i use 32 win. special dies, they work good. i use 30 rem. brass, just run them through your die to neck up.
