The 3 Amigos Have a New Compadre
We picked up another Model 81 in .35 remington today for $550 out the door. We had looked at it before and thought real nice. The gun shop has a small indoor range and it was lit up, gun isn't as nice as we first thought, but overall pretty good compared to most of the ones available. Barrel jacket ...

I had a Browning "Light Twelve A5" and a Remington M11 20 gauge. I liked them both. The Browning is a bit more refined, receiver engraving and the magazine cutoff. Judging by todays prices if I were to get another I think I'd go with the Remington. Not because I don't like the Browning I'm...

Well I chased the checkering with my checkering tools looks much better, but will never be 100%. That's OK too.
Shot it today, shoots pretty good. My Brother went to adjust the rear sight and snapped off one of the legs on the elevation screw. Can I get a replacement?

There was one of these Model 8-81 spanners for sale on the net. I believe it was marked CBR, and looked like a decent product to me. I used to make my own shotgun forend spanners. Yes, the double border seems a bit unusual, but the checkering job isn't too bad, it can be improved on. Anyway got this one cleaned, what a mess, very dirty. That is a nice specimen for sure, unfortunately its out of my price range. As much as I like these rifles and think that the "Police Special" is really cool, for that kind of money I could buy an M1A (which I really like) and an AR15 (which I could live without).

I can think of several reasons for the jacket to become loose, but I feel that a major cause is somebody trying to disassemble it by clamping on the receiver extension and then trying to unscrew the barrel bushing. Our Model 81 had a loose jacket so we disassembled it and drilled it slighty larger w...
